Thrifty Traveler: Puerto Vallarta Overview

Dreaming of a beach getaway? Oceanside resorts can get fairly expensive depending on where you are looking. In the United States, beachfront hotels can be over $300/night and this doesn't include food, drinks, or entertainment. Also, in the winter, the weather is not always warm enough to lay out on a beach in the USA. This is why we started traveling internationally. There are many amazing countries and cities to visit that offer budget-friendly beach front options, however, today we are going to focus on Mexico. More specifically, Puerto Vallarta. While there are still more expensive resorts available in Puerto Vallarta, there are many, MANY places that are very affordable. If you are willing to stay at a non all-inclusive, your price will drop even further. In January of this year we stayed at an all-inclusive for 8 days. Blue sky, warm sand, sounds of the ocean, and a fresh mixed margarita in hand. Does it get much better than this? Too bad it can cost an arm and a leg to go on vacation right? I mean who would get to go more than once every few years? To the first question, no it does not get much better than that. To the next two questions, it can actually be cheaper to be on vacation than to live at home and with a little bit of planning you can go EVERY year! Maybe even more than once. :) So maybe a beach vacation isn't for everyone, but I bet there is someplace you'd like to go.
